Communication is key, whoever you are dealing with, but especially your wedding photographer.

For me, I like to know what makes you and your partner tick, things that make you laugh, your sense of humour as this all helps me in getting the best from you when capturing all the moments of your special day, thus allowing you to relax and enjoy your day.

The Order of the Day
Schedules and locations of your big day are vital for me to be able to plan my shots. If possible, I always like to go to your venue prior to your wedding day to take a look around and spot the best places for intimate shots, group photos and anything else which I feel will make your wedding photos even more special.

Timings for the entire day, such as what time and where you are getting ready and whether you want any photos of the groomsmen as well and making sure I’m in the right places at the right time allows me to be one step ahead in order to capture those important moments.

Shot Lists
First looks, group shots and family members are among some of the things you should tell me about or any particular photos you want taken as I need to ensure there is plenty of time to get everything ticked off the list in the time between the ceremony, wedding breakfast and reception. Normally, I would ask you to elect someone in your bridal party, such as the Maid of Honour, to be responsible for rounding the correct people up that are needed for each shot. I always provide my clients with a template for the shot list, which makes things a lot easier when putting this together.

It's a Family Affair
If there are any family circumstances I should be aware of then this is also a good thing to tell me about so as not to make things complicated for you and your groom on the day.

The Finer Details
Wedding stationery, flowers, perfume, earrings, cufflinks (I could go on) are some of the most important things which should also be photographed on the day. I always make sure I capture every detail of your day so that when you look back over your photographs, every part of your day is encapsulated.

Dress Code
When working, I tend to wear dark colours so as to blend in and not stand out. I have a uniform which consists of black tunic and black trousers but I’m always happy to wear a dress or stick to a particular colour scheme if required – just ensure you let me know!

Surprise!
I recently did a wedding where the bride had arranged for secret waiters to be there. They are dressed as waiting staff but are actually singers and are a great addition to any day. It was great knowing about this beforehand as I was able to position myself in the correct place in order to get the reaction shots of her new husband and the guests. Also, it’s quite fun to be included in information which no one else is privy to! Whatever your secret addition may be, let me know.

Don’t Worry
Finally, and most importantly, just relax and enjoy your day. I will always make sure that everything is in hand so it’s something you don’t have to worry about and at times, you won’t even realise I’m there which is how I get some of the best photos of the day - the candid ones!

If there is anything I don’t know, which I feel I need to, I will always ask – I promise you won’t be disappointed.
